Staying out of trouble

Do you intend to "go straight" or do you intend going back to a life of crime.  Hopefully your crime was a "one off" or the last you will ever do, so good luck.

Staying out of trouble depends upon a number of factors.  You will need the following:

An income
A place to live
Work

Some basic advice is given on each of these within this section.  Click on UP to the section index.

The crucial period is the month after release.  If you have no income then you are more likely to re-offend.  If you have no-where to live and no family support you are more likely to re-offend.  If you are at home all day or down the pub or club then you are more likely to re-offend.  You will be finding it difficult to adjust but it is important to stay out of trouble and to busy yourself with making claims for your entitlements.  Spend your time re-establishing your home or even undertaking voluntary work.
